Providing enrichment toys for your dog is essential for their well-being, offering mental stimulation, reducing boredom, and promoting healthier behavior. I am always looking for ideas on how to enrich my dog’s lives. There is a multitude of things out there, some good and some not-so-good

There are a million different things you can stuff a Kong with….my go-to basic recipe is to take some of your dog's kibble and soak it in warm water for at least an hour. Then add some pumpkin puree and maybe a little canned food or a small amount of peanut butter, just to give it that yummy flavor. Use an immersion blender to make a nice soft paste. Stuff the Kong with this paste and pop it into the freezer.
This will feel good on a puppy's gums while teething, but it will also be great for your adult dog. It will also take your dog some time to get through the frozen treat inside the Kong.
Always read the ingredients when preparing food for your dog. Hidden things, such as xylitol (a sugar supplement), can harm your dog. Avoid things like grapes, onions, and garlic to name a few.
This recipe is my go-to because it doesn’t add a lot of fat or additives to your dog's diet. If you are watching your dog's food intake, you can remove a little kibble from their breakfast or dinner to account for the kibble inside the Kong.
Encourages licking (a calming behavior) and foraging for their food.
And your dog will say Thank you!!!
