Dogs can become overly aroused by common stimuli. This is often termed Reactivity.

Reactivity can be fear.
Reactivity can be fear.

Is your dog having BIG emotions about things, or maybe they seem anxious or nervous about other people, noises, cars, etc? Do you want to avoid the pressure of a group class but want something more personal than online training?

The term Reactivity covers a huge umbrella of different emotions. These can include stress, anxiety, or fear, or they may be feeling frustrated because they’re overly friendly and want to say hello to everyone. Unfortunately, these different emotions often look the same.

Every dog has their reasons for feeling the way they do about different situations, and they all have a unique way of expressing themselves. Many tools can be used in different situations to help your dog think and feel differently about things.

Let's work on this together and find the best solutions for you.

I am passionate about working with all the emotions that come with the phrase “reactivity.” This is not only the BIG emotions that your dog is feeling but also what you, as their guardian, are feeling; our emotions often display as frustration, embarrassment, and even anger. Working with rescues for most of my adult life, I 100% understand all of these things and am looking forward to being right there, working with you and your misunderstood companion to find ways to manage these challenges.

I like to spend the first two lessons working with you and your dog at your house, where your dog is most comfortable, and learning will be easiest. We review lots of information and practice many exercises to help manage things when working outside the home. The third lesson will be spent working outside in your yard, also a familiar, comfortable space for your dog, with a life-size plushy dog. If your dog is ready, and remember that all dogs work at their own pace, we can work with challenges you have been facing during routine walks, places you visit, or any triggering stimuli during your fourth lesson.

This may seem daunting, but it really works! I can't wait to connect.
